Who is PEMETE?
The Panhellenic Association of Table Olive Processors, Standardizers, and Exporters (PEMETE) was founded in 1970 as a legal entity under Greek law.
It is a non-profit association whose aim is to serve and protect the interests of the processing, standardization, and marketing (distribution/export) of Greek table olive varieties, recognizing their designation as a “National Product.”
At the same time, the Association represents its members before all authorities and organizations in Greece, the European Union, and third countries.
The new conditions that have been created as a result of globalization are intensifying competition between similar products, as their prices are determined and influenced by international markets.
With regard to the trade (distribution/export) of table olives, the role of the Association is becoming increasingly important, as only by uniting can Greek processors and packagers collectively face the new challenges arising in international markets.
PEMETE members now represent more than 95% of Greek table olive exports.
